Following the revision of the 2014 Pension Reform Act in 2014, only a validly processed Will or Letter of Administration is acceptable as the valid document when processing the death benefits of a deceased staff as against the Next-of-kin form which has been previously accepted.
As a result of this development, quite a number of beneficiaries are unable to have access to their estate due to non-availability of a Will and the difficulty associated with processing Letters of Administration.
In a bid to mitigate the challenges associated with processing of Will and Letter of Administration, the Human Resource Management Department (HRMD) approached the Faculty of Law and the Faculty has agreed to establish the Wills Clinic at the ground floor of the Faculty of Law in the University of Lagos to assist interested members of staff.
To this end, members of staff are advised to take advantage of this rare opportunity for consultation on Will-related matters at the Wills Clinic.
